Part of the process to be able to adopt is to have a home study done. We were given the name of a local home studier and are now in the middle of that process. We pay him and he gives us a ton of paperwork to fill out. An application, our financial info, 1040, proof of employment, a child abuse background check, an FBI background check, references, and a questionnaire about a million questions long. All of this before he ever visits our home.
This is what we have been doing for the past month. Once he gets everything from us and the background checks and references have been mailed into him then he schedules a time to come and visit us in our home. After all of that, he will write up a summary of his opinion of us and if he believes we are suitable to adopt. Let's hope all goes smoothly and we are on his good side. (we probably only have a couple weeks left before he has everything he needs and we can move forward) In the mean time we have been working on getting cards and announcements made to let all of our friends and loved ones know that we are ready to adopt and to keep eyes and ears open for us.
